Jacob was telling us stories told by a friend who worked at CostCo. Having worked retail myself (1 2 3 4 5 6) I can well imagine how insane that place must be. If this story is true, it's a gem-quality classic.
Anyway, the angle here is that CostCo will apparently accept returns on pretty much anything, so long as you have a receipt. Jacob's friend told him that one time a family showed up the day after Thanksgiving with a bag of turkey bones. Their complaint: they didn't enjoy eating the bird.
CostCo gave them a refund.
