Across the street from the Fifth and Mission parking lot, early one Saturday morning in June, I found a large man sleeping under a scrap of carpet underpadding. I photographed him, but when he began to stir, I stopped.
He rolled over on his side to face the street, pulled his penis out, urinated onto the sidewalk, and then rolled over and went back to sleep. His urine flowed to the street in the seam between two sidewalk slabs.
